Payment networks and crypto platforms are turning AI agents into controlled participants in shopping, account access and checkout.
AI crypto services and payment networks are building controls for agents that can act in real payment flows. The latest launches cover three parts of that work. Card networks are defining agent identity and approval rules. Crypto platforms are separating agent balances from a customer's main account. Checkout providers are connecting software agents to merchant order flows. Each release tackles a practical question: who authorized the payment, what funds can the agent use, and how does the merchant receive a valid order? Those details decide whether an agent can move beyond product search. They set the boundaries for account access, payment approval and checkout. They also give users a clear record of what the software did.
Ant International, Visa and Mastercard Build Agent Identity Rules as Mastercard Opens Agent Connect

Ant International, Visa and Mastercard began work on a Know-Your-Agent framework that identifies and monitors AI agents across card networks, wallets, marketplaces and agent platforms. The framework records which software agent is acting, who authorized it and which payment permissions apply.
Mastercard also launched Agent Connect, a merchant integration for AI shopping platforms to handle product discovery, cart creation and customer-approved payments through one connection. The framework sets identity and permission controls before payment. Agent Connect carries the authorized request to the merchant checkout.
Businesses that want to accept crypto payments as a merchant need those controls before they can accept agent-led orders. Merchants, card issuers and payment providers must identify the authorized party, apply spending limits and retain an audit trail for each request.
Coinbase Builds Isolated Financial Accounts for AI Agents and Limits Their Trading Access

Coinbase is building financial accounts for AI agents with isolated portfolios and controlled access to crypto and stock trading. Each account separates the agent's balances, permissions and approved actions from the customer's other assets. The model gives crypto finance services a way to define account-level limits for automated activity.
An agent can research a market or prepare a transaction inside that account without receiving broad withdrawal or trading rights. Account owners can limit approved assets, maximum spend, counterparties and sensitive actions that require human confirmation.
Users of wallets, crypto cards and payment providers can give an agent a tightly scoped mandate. The service defines responsibility and limits before automation handles funds.
AEON Launches Agentic Checkout for AI Shopping and Payments Across Online Stores

AEON launched Agentic Checkout for AI agents to shop, complete checkout and pay at ecommerce sites, including shops accepting cryptocurrency on platforms such as Shopify and Amazon. The product connects a basket, payment method and order confirmation in one transaction flow.
At checkout, the merchant needs a valid payment request, the payment provider must apply the user's rules and the buyer needs a clear order record. Agentic Checkout puts that operational sequence at the centre of the product.
Crypto payment gateways can use the same model as they add programmable balances and stablecoin settlement. An agent can prepare a checkout and choose a permitted method while the user or merchant retains final approval, compliance and refund controls.
