A Breathe.Tex waterproof membrane will protect against the elements. Finally, the Meribel OC boot is fitted with the OC ice grip system, a mechanism built into the sole unit that provides on/off ice spikes to help keep you safe when walking in snowy and icy conditions.

Even where a waterproof membrane is fitted, regular care of the outer leather, suede, nubuck or textile materials remains important because dirt, salt and surface saturation can reduce the performance of the outer water-repellent finish over time.
Keeping the upper clean and periodically reproofing suitable materials helps preserve appearance, comfort and weather protection, particularly where boots are used regularly in rain, slush, mud or salted winter conditions.
