Purism is a security and freedom-focused computer manufacturer based in San Francisco, founded in 2014 with the fundamental goals of combining the philosophies of the Free Software movement with the hardware manufacturing process, and to make it easy for individuals and businesses to have computers that they can trust and feel safe using, i.e. making security more convenient than not.
Purism is a social purpose corporation (SPC) devoted to providing the highest quality hardware available, ensuring the rights of security, privacy, and freedom for all users.
Through its initial crowdfunding campaign in 2015, Purism raised over $1,000,000 to bring its security and privacy focused computers to the market. By doing so, Purism became one of the “top 100” crowdfunded technology companies in history, and Purism’s “Librem” computer line was among the top 3 crowdfunded laptop computers to date (ZDNet, 2015).

I purchased a Librem 14 version 1 laptop computer with 32GB DDR4 RAM and dual 500GB SSD hard drives on August 20, 2021 for $1,996.00 from this company. Their website said due to supply chain issues that shipping would take around 8 weeks. I contacted Mladen Pejakovic who is the Support Manager for Purism on on October 12, 2021 to ask about an ETA for when my laptop would be shipped and I was told they were restocking on October 18 and shipping should resume that week. I next contacted them on November 1 to see if my laptop had shipped at which point they said my laptop was expected to ship out the second week of December, so I told them I wanted a refund. Mladen told me it would take several weeks and I told him they have 7 working days to refund my money per the FTC. Today is the 7th working day from November 1 so they are now not in compliance with FTC rules.
I paid Purism $1996.00 on August 20 and 12 weeks later I haven't received the laptop I paid for. They expect me to wait another 6 weeks before it ships and haven't refunded my money like I asked them to.
**** DON'T TRUST THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR MONEY!!!! ****
Did you get the laptop/refund eventually?
Was the shipping domestic or international?
Asking as I am looking at the same laptop just a bit more specced up and concerned about the issues that you mentioned.
