The Coinbase Visa debit card is currently only available in the UK and enables millions of customers in locations around the world to make contactless chip and PIN payments and withdraw money from ATMs.

The Coinbase Card is available in parts of Europe and in the coming months the card will also be available in the rest of Europe. Support outside Europe is not planned.

A Coinbase account is required to use the Coinbase Visa debit card. The card can be used to access the crypto credit at Coinbase. All crypto currencies that are traded on the online exchange are available. Via the Coinbase App you can select which crypto currency should be used on the card.

In addition to the normal Coinbase App there is a separate Coinbase Card App for the Visa card.

In the Coinbase Card App a receipt is created for each transaction, which can be sorted by category.
The card issuer is the UK payment processor PaySafe and the technology comes from Apto Payments .

The plastic card itself costs £4.95 once in England. Withdrawals from ATMs are free up to £200 per month. Above that it costs 1% of the payout amount.

It is also free for withdrawals outside England up to £200. Amounts in excess of this cost 2% of the amount paid out.
In-store payment is free for payments in pounds. Otherwise, costs amounting to 0.20% of POS turnover are incurred.

A special advantage of the Coinbase Card is that when paying with the card, the crypto currency is only “sold” in Euro at this time. There is therefore no need to top up a previous prepaid account, where the change from crypto to euro takes place at the time of top-up.

To receive a Coinbase Card, a Coinbase account is required and the Coinbase Card App must also be installed.

Once the app has been installed, the first step is to find out your country of origin and send a six-digit numeric code to your mobile phone number.

After that you have to log in to your Coinbase account and accept the terms and conditions. The Coinbase Card App is then connected to the Coinbase account. You allow the app to pass on the data stored at Coinbase about yourself to the card issuer. The purchase price of the card in the amount of €4.95 will also be debited from the Coinbase balance.

If you already have a verified Coinbase account, you can very quickly and easily order the Coinbase Card in addition to the Coinbase Card App and thus dispose of your Coinbase balance.

The Coinbase Visa Card is currently only available to customers from Germany in the German-speaking countries. Customers from Austria and Switzerland will have to wait a little longer.
