Tomasi Design specializes in custom wood furniture and cabinetry for both private residences and commercial spaces. We also offer 3D computer aided drafting services. Our focus is on creating beautiful, yet functional pieces that fully meets the client’s vision.
How We Work
From our Marin County workshop, we’ll do our utmost to ensure that your customer experience is memorable and smooth. Give us a call and let us know what your needs are. Overwhelmed with all of the options? No problem, We can recommend an interior designer suited to your project. We do however offer some design solutions as part of the process.
Once a design (or even napkin sketch) has been made, we will quote you a price. Upon acceptance of the price we can set up a time for a site visit to take measurements and further discuss the details of your project. We”ll then create a drawing based on specifications, and will provide you with a proposal. We ask you to sign the proposal and send a deposit of 10% or $1000 (whichever is less as per CA law), and you’ll soon be on your way to enjoying your new custom cabinetry and/or furniture!
The Design Process
We work with exotic and domestic woods, sheet goods, metals, plastics, glass, and other pre-fabricated materials.
In cabinet planning, the use of CAD (computer-aided design) to generate sketches of the design concept can be very helpful, however, in curvilinear furniture design this tends to be less than specific, and can only be used as a starting point.
There really isn’t any substitute for seeing something before you as a 3-D object, being able to walk around it to get a sense of proportion and how it will fit in with your overall decor. Curvilinear furniture design generally requires a miniature model, full-scale mock-up (usually of cardboard or another inexpensive material), or both to establish proportions and geometry.
The process involves a bit of planning to ensure that your pieces are designed well, and hopefully, give you a lifetime of satisfaction..
