The book “The Bitcoin Standard” by economist Saifedean Ammous is finally available in German. The book is a non-technical book and is the DAS Bitcoin book par excellence.

In the course of a crowdfunding campaign, donations were collected to make this work accessible to the German-speaking public.

The book developed into a standard work and describes the decentralised alternative to the central bank system. The author Dr. Saifedean Ammou is professor of economics at the Kassar School of Buiness in Beirut. Accordingly, the book focuses on the significance of Bitcoin in an economic context.
In his book, Dr. Ammous describes the development of money and the different forms of money through history and outlines implications of different means of exchange.

He explores what gave these different technologies their monetary status and how they lost it again, what this teaches us about the desirable qualities of money and how Bitcoin tries to fulfil them.

Ammous takes the reader on an exciting journey through the history of money and the different forms and ways in which the functions of money are fulfilled. Be it the primitive systems such as the trade in limestones and shells, metals, coins, the gold standard or modern government debt.
