Worst customer support ever coupled with high prices
PrivateAlps has been nothing but disappointing and incapable. On the 18th of May, there was a maintenance. I opened a support ticket about this because other than on a telegram channel they don't tell you about stuff like ( wasn't on there at the time ) that and inquired about the downtime and at the same time about the automatic backups that should have kept my data safe ( and which I pay an add-on fee for). Unfortunately, my question about the backups was never answered. ( mind you before that they even botched a vps upgrade, they managed to upgrade to a vps 2 instead of vps 3 took them 4 days to fix the issue and I had to open 5 Tickets ). Support answers once a day at most and don't expect even once if it's the weekend. That's all stuff that happened before we even get to my main issue.
By the 22nd of May 2024, after installing fail2ban and CrowdSec, my server (VPS ID: 11335) failed to boot. When I requested backups, they told me that a parsing issue had prevented backups from being activated since the VPS upgrade. Despite me asking multiple times about the backup status, I was not informed of this issue until it was too late.
To make matters worse, while discussing the issue with a support technician, my server was deleted and reinstalled without my consent, leading to significant data loss. ( yes that's not a joke )
TLDR:
Poor communication and unresponsive support regarding backups.
Support does not read Tickets in full, make sure you open ONE ticket for ONE issue otherwise their pea brain doesn't compute.
Premature server deletion and reinstallation without consent, resulting in data loss.
Frequent server downtimes and blacklisted IP ranges.
To top it off, despite all these issues, I was only refunded 40 euros out of the over 95 euros I paid into their services.
They also use old hardware coupled with high prices
Stay away.
Update:
After seeing the review on Trustpilot they tried to run defense and propose to buy me by refunding me the remaining money the held hostage.
I give them one more star for this. This is scammy behavior. See the reviews on scamadviser and more you will see the same. and again if you buy anything do it with credit card and charge it back if they rip you off.
They ended up keeping the money 8
90 usd while not providing service nor refund. I'll post another review for my first order which was a vpn.
+ now they blame it on me. For A not being able to parse their order properly and B deleting the vps without my consent. If you want support that is slow and you like dealing with people that are incapable go for private alps. Don't forget the steep prices.
ah right yeah I write reviews only for bad experiences. When I'm happy I don't write reviews. But just like with support that's too hard to comprehend for privateAlps and their "manager"
