The dice game has two modes: Fast, and Provably Fair.
Fast mode optimizes for speed:
+ the dice are rolled as soon as the transaction is seen in the pool, even before any network confirmations. In this way, players instantly find out if they won.
+ if there’s a payout, it’s nearly always sent without waiting the usual 10-confirmation Monero unlock time. So, if the Monero network is not congested, it usually takes only a few minutes to go from bet to payout.
In Provably Fair mode, the dice roll is derived from the Monero transaction itself. The algorithm is described in detail on our FAQ page.
This mode requires the transaction to be fully confirmed before the roll. This is done to prevent unexpected behavior: without full confirmation, Monero network reorganizations would change the roll in the middle of processing, delivering the player an unpleasant experience.
