With that she concluded a singing career. While singing it was timbre which played an important role, in painting it is all about the interplay of color and light. Helena is guided by this when she depicts the landscapes she sees in her own interpretation.
While painting Helena is inspired by nature and by the works of Boudin, Impressionists such as Monet and Morisot and the painters of the Zeeland light. Fauvist and expressionist art also touch her. Color and light are themes that recur in her paintings. Helena often visits the beautiful places that these painters captured. If possible, she sets up her easel and plein air makes a new work.
Besides the well-known places like Domburg and rural areas and on Walcheren Zeeland Flanders, she often travels through France.
