The DUNU SA6 EST pairs the control and tonal precision of six balanced armature drivers with the extra treble reach of two electrostatic drivers in each earpiece. Its eight-driver architecture is tuned for substantial bass, clear vocal presence, finely resolved upper frequencies, and an open sense of air without losing coherence between the different driver systems.
DUNU supports that driver array with a dual-system four-way crossover, four independent acoustic tubes, high-purity internal wiring, and the upgraded Hulk Pro Mini cable. Custom Nebula faceplates give every pair its own finish, while the lightweight resin shells and carefully shaped contours are designed for a secure, comfortable fit.
Eight Drivers Per Side
Two custom Sonion vented balanced armature drivers handle the low frequencies. Their shared acoustic chamber uses an airflow valve and increased internal volume to give bass notes greater weight, movement, and physical presence than a conventional sealed balanced armature design.
Two custom Knowles drivers cover the midrange and lower treble, preserving the body and texture of vocals and instruments. A second pair of Knowles balanced armatures focuses on the higher frequencies, adding definition and fine detail.
Two Sonion electrostatic drivers complete the system, extending the upper treble with additional air and low-level information. Their contribution is heard in the space around instruments, the decay of cymbals, and the ambient detail that gives recordings a stronger sense of scale.
Dual-System Four-Way Crossover
Managing eight drivers requires more than dividing the frequency range electronically. The SA6 EST combines an electronic four-way crossover with four independent acoustic sound tubes, giving DUNU control over both the electrical signal and the physical path from each driver group to the ear.
This dual-system approach helps maintain phase alignment and a smooth transition between bass, midrange, treble, and ultra-high frequencies. Each driver group can operate within the range it handles best while the complete presentation remains cohesive.
Custom Nebula Faceplates
The SA6 EST uses handcrafted faceplates with flowing blue, white, and black patterns scattered with silver flakes. Variations in the material and finishing process give each pair a distinct appearance rather than a repeated printed pattern.
The resin shells are shaped from a refined ear model to follow the natural contours of the outer ear. At approximately 6g per side, the earpieces remain light enough for extended listening while providing the internal space required for the eight-driver acoustic system.
Hulk Pro Mini Cable
DUNU includes its upgraded Hulk Pro Mini cable, developed to retain the performance of the original Hulk Pro in a lighter and more manageable format. The reduced size makes the cable better suited to portable use while maintaining a high-quality signal path.
High-purity single-crystal copper is also used for the wiring inside each earpiece. The cable connects through standard 0.78mm two-pin sockets, allowing it to be replaced or changed without requiring a proprietary connector.
Q-Lock Plus Interchangeable Plugs
The patented Q-Lock Plus system allows the cable termination to be changed without replacing the entire cable. Both 3.5mm single-ended and 4.4mm balanced plugs are included, covering common portable players, dongle DACs, desktop amplifiers, and headphone outputs.
The self-locking mechanism secures the selected plug firmly while keeping changes quick and straightforward. A leather carrying case and DUNU S&S ear tips in sizes S through XL complete the package.
