After working tirelessly for hundreds or even thousands of hours, I've had people tell me that I "should" give it to them for less than the price of a coffee and doughnut (that took a few minutes to serve). Others would passive-aggressively try to pressure me into making it open-source, and giving it away for free. Heck, one guy even thought it would be morally wrong to pay for my software. Yeah, morally wrong to pay someone for their hard work and effort, because, software?
Everyone loves free stuff, but there's just one problem: we all need food and shelter, and nothing is truly free. In short: no food means a dead/nonexistent software developer, and dead men write no code!
So, wear this t-shirt proudly as a reminder to all that software developers shouldn't be taken for granted. That they also need to be paid.
Let it also be a reminder to you, because it's easy to neglect your health while sitting at your computer crafting code for hours and hours, days, months, and years. So, eat well, exercise, and look after your body, mind and soul. Software can bring great value to the world, but dead men write no code. The world needs you to be well and healthy.
