Show more...Cocomama's proud owners Anika and Lotje are two women in their twenties, who created Cocomama from the ground up. In 2002 they became friends both working in music venue 013 Tilburg. With a masters degree in her pocket, in 2007 Anika moved to Barcelona for her second study and to polish up her language skills.

She got a job at a popular hostel, and eager to get involved, she found herself starting up two hostels in Madrid for the same company. After living in Spain for 2 years, another hostel for the same investor was opened in Prague. Lotje would visit regularly to help out in the hostels, soon they were inspired to start their own business in hometown Amsterdam.

A business plan was written and the hunt for the right property was on. Despite hitting many bumps in the road, the process was an amazing roller-coaster ride which was enjoyed every step of the way. In September 2009 the ladies came upon an old brothel. Falling in love with the building instantly, they signed the building to their name. Many months of construction, dealing with legal issues, designing the lay-out and shopping for inventory later, Cocomama opened its doors on December 1st 2010.
